Critics Consensus

Knock Knock brings a lot of talent to bear on its satirical approach to torture horror, but not effectively enough to overcome its repetitive story or misguidedly campy tone.

Knock Knock (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Alison Willmore BuzzFeed News Knock Knock, which is about two women wreaking havoc on a married man, aspires to be titillating. But more than anything, both persistently, persuasively angle to make you angry. Nov 9, 2015 Full Review Knock Knock (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture The characters are driven by convenience, not behavior, and their actions seem like they've been manhandled into place to make the plot work. Oct 11, 2015 Full Review Knock Knock (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Dan Callahan TheWrap "Director Eli Roth's "Knock Knock," a remake of the 1977 exploitation picture "Death Game," sometimes plays more like a comedy than like the grungy thriller that inspired it, but that's often all to the good." Oct 10, 2015 Full Review Knock Knock (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Jaime Grijalba Vague Visages Obviously, the character abuse doesn’t just reflect the physical abuse of Chilean workers, as it’s physical too — almost as if the filmmakers were conscious of what they were doing to our cinema. Dec 1, 2023 Full Review Knock Knock (2015) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Roth's lowest-common-denominator approach reduces a primal, campy idea into nothing more than a dull homage to an exploitation flick. Daniel B I wish there were negative stars. Absolute wreck of a movie. No plot, awful dialogue, unsatisfying ending, bad direction. Total waste of time, ruined the whole mood for the weekend. Do not watch Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Glen N "You're barking up the wrong fucking tree. I'm from Oakland ho"My hero. Sadly no one elsesThis is a horror movie about how sometimes it's not good to help peopleHalf the negative reviews are people upset that Keanu didn't "win". It's an uncomfortable movie and while I likely won't watch it again as it is really fucked up, that doesn't mean it's bad Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/30/24 Full Review We T It's sooooo Bad...... Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Audience Member Hmm. Not sure why no one liked this, I'll assume young people would be WAY too offended by the content, lmao. This is an easy 4 and though you have to suspend disbelief a bit- it's actually quite good. I was pleasantly surprised. It's weird and dark and scary. Actings all good- Keanu may not get the respect of what people consider 'real' actors, but his turn in this is pretty legit. This movie would've been a hit 20 years ago, suppose it's a sign of the times. Pace is good, dialogues decent. It's worth a watch and better then most free stuff I take a flier on. I recommend. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Laura K I loved it, watched it 3 times, nice lesson for men not to open your doors fro strangers, obviously the girls had bad daddy issues, people should look at ii in a sense of seeing what's going out in the world, gils like these bing abused by their own member of their families, also a man is a man, he thinks with hi Dick, its not their fault, their brsin isn't fully developed, but for the acting there girls were amazing, really scrwed up but good acting, congratulations Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/05/24 Full Review Audience Member This film is worth seeing if only for the incredible acting of the principal cast. I found the plot gritty and the directing very well done, not for the faint of heart for sure. It's a fun movie to watch and probably to have made too.
